02/21/02 : Before Michelle Yeoh's next film is even released a sequel is being planned! The Touch which is set to be released this year has had a US$30 Million sequel greenlighted by Mythical Films. Filming of The Touch 2 will likely delay the production of Mythical Film's next project Hua Mulan. Click here for more information.
02/09/02 : The official 'The Touch' website is now up and running! You can visit the site here, very well designed and has lots of information on the movie. You can also download a teaser trailer of the movie.
02/03/02 : Hong Kong Legends, has just got the rights to release Wing Chun on DVD. Don't look for it to be released any time soon as the restoration process has only just begun. It will be without doubt the best version of the movie ever released, now all they have to do is get Michelle to do a commentary...
11/24/01 : Sorry about the lack of updates lately, but just wanted to say that Hong Kong Legends will be releasing Yes Madam as Police Assassins in February 2002. Should be a great disc.
10/22/01 : Some news on a possible project for Michelle: - Miramax has bought the remake rights to a current big hit South Korean film, My Wife Is a Gangster. The project will go out to writers and directors soon, and the production is expected to begin in the next 18 months. Central News Agency (Taiwan) reported from Seoul that Miramax is considering inviting either Michelle or Cameron Diaz (Charlie's Angels) for the lead.
My Wife Is a Gangster is an action comedy about a female mob boss who gets married to please a dying sister. The gangster sends her henchmen to find a suitable guy and they come back with a poor, unsuspecting dupe who has no idea what he's getting into. The budget of the remake will be about $70 million. 08/17/01 : Just recieved word that Hong Kong Legends are releasing Royal Warriors on DVD next year. That makes their total Michelle Yeoh line up so far; Magnificent Warriors, Yes, Madam!, Royal Warriors and Easy Money.
07/27/01 : Columbia Tristar Home Video are releasing a brand new DTS DVD version of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. It has been said that this title among others will set the highest standard of Video/Audio by dropping any extra features for the higher quality. The release date is currently Q4 2001. This is fantastic news if you can support DTS audio, which is superior to Dolby Digital.
07/24/01 : Thought I would add that Crouching Tiger was listed as the 5th best selling DVD of the week in the US as of the 24th. And you can check out some Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon action figures here (thanks to Michelle Yeoh Web Theatre for the link).

06/17/01 : Holy crap! First-week consumer sales of the DVD version of "Crouching Tiger", released June 5, were the highest ever for Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, generating about $30 million in retail value on sales of an estimated 1.5 million units, according to research by Daily Variety sister publication Video Business. It is the biggest first week of the year for a DVD title and the second biggest first week of any DVD title besides "Gladiator", according to VideoScan data provided by Columbia TriStar. The studio would not provide or confirm any specific unit or dollar sales data.

06/07/01 : Great news, Hong Kong Classics are going to be releasing 'The Stunt Woman' (Ah Kam) on DVD June 18th! It will have special features such as: Non-Anamorphic 1.85:1 Widescreen print with optional English subtitles, Fullscreen English language version, Cantonese & English Dolby Digital 2.0 Stereo audio, 2 Theatrical trailers, Michelle Yeoh interview, Cast & Crew Bios and Official production stills gallery. It is not known yet if it will be a Region 0 disc *crosses fingers*.

06/01/01 : I was just visiting the UK's Hong Kong Legends website (they specialize in making deluxe version DVD's for Asia's biggest superstars like Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh) and it says this ... "Magnificent Warriors News : Magnificent Warriors is finished and ready for release on May 21st." That is great news for people everywhere! 05/20/01 : Good news for videogame fans! Ubisoft has secured the rights to make Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon games. They will be appearing on consoles such as the X-Box, Gamecube, Playstation 2 and Gameboy Advance. Here is the news from videogames.com: "Bringing Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon to the gaming audience is an incredible opportunity for Ubi Soft," said Yves Guillemot, president and CEO of Ubi Soft Entertainment. "With this amazingly successful film, we have the ability to tell stories that are not only technically rich and challenging, but are also extremely plot-driven. Ubi Soft looks forward to continuing the thread of this elaborate tale and bringing it to an even greater public." The first products using the license will be released in spring 2002.
05/17/01 : There was a party at Cannes today for Michelle's upcoming movie, The Touch. Here is what Ain't it cool news reported:
"I managed to get an invitation to the Media Asia party made in honor of Mythical films, the newborn company of Michelle Yeoh, and also to celebrate the huge pre-sales of The touch. I guess you all remember the scene in Raiders of lost ark, when we discover Marion Ravenwood in a drinking contest ? Well, it happens for real at this party. Yeoh took part on this kind of contest by the sound of Chinese drums with many many people." I thought it was very funny! I just can't imagine Michelle drunk...
05/16/01 : Just thought I would remind everyone that Crouching Tiger comes out June 5th in the US on DVD and Video. It even has a conversation with Michelle Yeoh as an extra feature. I know I'll be buying it the day it comes out. As I live in Australia I get a bonus 12 page book exclusive to Aus!
05/14/01 : Media Asia's "The Touch - Unlock The Legend Party" was held on 11th at Cannes. Michelle, Peter Pau, and Thomas Chung hosted more than 200 guests. Won't start the shooting until July, Michelle's The Touch has already found its French distributor. The film is set to be shown at next year's Cannes Film Festival.

05/09/01 : Just got an e-mail concerning Crouching Tiger on DVD in Australia. It comes out on July 11th with a 12 page bonus book! Well, I am excited anyway (I am from Australia).
05/02/01 : Crouching Tiger continues to shatter the record it set for the highest grossing foriegn film. It has now pulled in $123.9 Million in the USA.
05/01/01 : At the BT Ethnic Multicultural Media Awards Michelle won the Best Actress award for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which also won best Film. Congratulations Michelle!
04/23/01 : Michelle Yeoh will not be in the Matrix sequels, she turned the offer down because it conflicted with the filming of her own movie The Touch, which is going to be filmed in China.

03/27/01 : Congratulations Michelle and Crouching Tiger, it won 4 awards at the Oscars! They were, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Original Score and Best Foreign Language Film. She and Chow Yun Fat also presented the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.
03/23/01 : Michelle is in talks to star in the sequel to the blockbuster movie The Matrix. I will have more as it develops.
