Filming for The Touch has finished, it is now in post-production. The film was shot in english. Mirimax has purchased the rights to release the movie in the US. Go to Michelle Yeoh Web Theatre for pictures of the film being shot (link below).

They are currently looking for a girl to play the 14 year old version of Michelle for the film, you can apply for the role here (The basic requirements are : age 12-18 and speak fluent English. You need to have a Yahoo! Hong Kong account).

The Touch will begin a 5 month shoot starting in August. It will be Michelle's production companys (Mythical Films) first movie and will be directed by Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon's award winning cinematographer, Peter Pau.

The film has been described as 'a female version of Indiana Jones' by the Hong Kong media. Michelle will be playing a trapeze artist member of an acrobatic troupe (sounds a little strange :), the budget has been increased from HK $95 million to HK $150 million. Two male leads are not fixed yet. Filming locations will include Chengdu, Shanghai, and the Silk Road.

The Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon prequel may begin shooting as early as May 2003. It has been said that Jet Li still has a chance of starring in the film.

Not a whole lot is known about this prequel yet, except that Michelle is starring in it and Ang Lee is returning to direct it.

Ang has been quoted as saying it will cost twice as much as the original to make, not because it will be more advanced (though it will be) but because no one thought the first would be so huge. He got half price on most of the filming equipment and workers on Crouching Tiger and they will be charging full price next time around, that is the reason it will cost double.
