Rules for performances

If you are planning on attending performances, please read the following (it is a gentle reminder from Rik, Kirsten and the Dutch Pipes & Drums):

Since it is the beginning of another year, it is a good time to remind everyone of DP&D dancing policies regarding performances.

Please know that parents are responsible for dancers at all performances. This responsibility includes bringing complete costumes and helping your dancer change, sometimes very quickly. Some dance assignments may be made ahead of time; however, the schedule is always subject to change.

The dance coordinators plan performances, communicate performance information, plan dances, assign dancers, explain the dances to the audience when appropriate, track dance points and do other things as necessary. They cannot be responsible for finding dancers and telling them when to change. This may mean that you are unable to watch all performances.

Please call or email if you have committed to a performance and find that you cannot attend. It is so much easier if the dance coordinators have accurate information before a performance. If we have only three who know the reel, then we can't do it! We'll plan another dance instead.

Also, please call or email to let us know you'd like to perform. We're happy to have all dancers and would like to maximize the dancing for all. That is easier if we know who to expect. Rik keeps the schedule, you can always ask him.

Hair should always be neat and off the face. If it is messy and flying all over, it takes the eyes away from the complete dancer and becomes a distraction. Small rings and small earrings are acceptable for performances. Lots of jewelry and bouncy earrings are not.

The dancers and parents are the ambassadors of Dutch Pipes & Drums. We have worked hard to build a good company, which we can count on to give an excellent performance.

Let's continue the effort to make the DP&D the best it can be.
