About Us!
Painted Dreams Farm is located in South Carolina. We adore animals......all kinds. If it has four legs, we like it. Horses, donkeys, ponies, dogs, cats, goats, potbelly pigs.....we have owned almost any kind of animal you can imagine, even a couple of wild ones.
We are not horse breed biased, but see the beauty, grace and wonder in them all! I cry sometimes just watching a horse run across the pasture. We've got it bad!!! LOL!
We used to raise only Arabians, but one day while at a horse show we saw a black and white Arabian/Paint mare that we thought was absolutely gorgeous! It was that mare that sparked our interest in finding and purchasing a Paint stallion to cross on our Arabian mares. Thus began the search that ended with the purchase of PD California Dreamin, and his dam, Smooth Gamble.
We have traveled from one end of the United States to the other to pick up a horse we have purchased, or to deliver one that we have sold. We have built many wonderful memories as a family on these trips, and cherish the time we have spent together.
The most wonderful thing to happen to us has been the birth of our grandbabies. I love them as if they were my own children! They are all five precious, smart and beautiful, of course! It remains to be seen if they will all catch the "horse bug", but we can sure tell that some of them have it as badly as I do! My oldest daughter and her husband have a little boy and two little girls. They sing, teach and are very involved in their church. My youngest daughter and her husband now have a little boy and a little girl. This is my "horsey" daughter. She and I share the love, each just as horse crazy as the other.
The above is Kandi's Mustang gelding, Kody, who we think is the best trail horse in the world. (Of course, we are prejudiced.) My son, the youngest of my children, absolutely loves mini-trucks and customized vehicles. He recently left home and got married, so we don't get to see him as much as we'd like, but that is what the Lord intended for children to do. It still makes it hard on his momma though. Ha! You can visit his web page and watch his progress on his "creation" at http://wave.prohosting.com/botmdout.
A man who loved his family, and was loved by them, so very much. He was a wonderful provider and was always there when you needed him. Mother and daddy provided us a loving Christian home. I have not always done what my parents taught me to do.....but I wish I had! My mother is still doing well, and we cherish her so very much. My daddy and my mother were a blessing from the Lord.
My daddy passed away 8 years ago on April Fools Day. An appropriate day for my dad to die, as he loved laughing and joking.
He and my mother had been sweethearts since childhood. They were till the day he died.
It still seems like daddy died yesterday to me. I still can't go to his grave without crying, even after all this time. His passing left a huge hole in our hearts, but he also left us with some wonderful memories. Memories we shall always cherish of times I wouldn’t have missed for anything in the world. My dad is in Heaven now. No more pain, no more tears.
The last time my daddy opened his eyes on this earth he looked into my face and smiled the most beautiful smile I have ever seen on anyone's face. It spoke volumes to me. His smile said everything is alright, I'm at peace.
Don't worry, this is not goodbye...... just see you later. His smile said I love you, and always will. In his smile I could see that God saves the very best for last. Daddy had a saying he would use. When Daddy left to go somewhere he would say "See you Sunday". It meant he was looking forward to seeing you again soon.
I love you, my precious Daddy. See you Sunday!
